Kentucky Institute for Economic Development

The 32nd annual Kentucky Institute for Economic Development (KIED) will be held August 21-24, 2017, at the Hilton Suites, Lexington Green, in Lexington. Directed by the UK Gatton College of

Business and Economics Don and Cathy Jacobs Executive Education Center (EEC), KIED is one of over 20 basic economic development courses accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

Recognized nationally as one of the best courses accredited by IEDC, KIED is designed to provide

economic development staff and active community volunteers a basic knowledge of how to

develop and implement an effective economic development strategy. Since 1986, KIED has

hosted more than 2,000 participants from 32 states and three from foreign countries. Expert

instructors also come from around the nation to participate in the course.

The Kentucky Institute for Economic Development (KIED), has educated over 2,000 economic

development professionals through an effort started by Wayne Foster in partnership with the

University of Kentucky. Wayne has retired and was inducted into the Kentucky Association for

Economic Development (KAED) Hall of Fame in November 2016. However, Wayne is excited that

KAED Foundation will continue the tradition of high quality educational programming through

KIED.

The Cabinet for Economic Development is pleased to have been a partner in this program since its

inception. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in this area of development to

improve their skills, enabling them to better serve their respective communities. Registration is

simple; go online to the Events Calendar at www.kaedonline.org.

Those interested in attending are urged to submit their application as soon as possible.

Enrollment is limited to 60. There are a limited number of scholarships available, which can be

obtained at the Kentucky Association of Economic Development's website (www.kaedonline.org)

at Scholarships under the Membership Services tab.

Questions about the course may be directed to Hal B. Goode, KAED President, at (502) 227-9653, or to Connie Blakemore, at the University of Kentucky, at (800) 284-6407.

KIED is an excellent resource to assist economic development professionals, and we encourage you to attend.
